Here It Comes
Hi, reader. I wrote this in 2009 and it's now more than five years old. So it may be very out of date; the world, and I, have changed a lot since I wrote it! I'm keeping this up for historical archive purposes, but the me of today may 100% disagree with what I said then. I rarely edit posts after publishing them, but if I do, I usually leave a note in italics to mark the edit and the reason. If this post is particularly offensive or breaches someone's privacy, please contact me.
The Queen has approved Leonard's dependent partner's visa, so it's now official: in about a month, we'll be moving to Cambridge, England, so I can work side-by-side with colleagues at Collabora headquarters. Many more details to follow.

Cool. Did the Queen personally approve it? (My dad's got a piece of paper she apparently signed, so I wouldn't put it past the British bureaucracy).

Our passports are guaranteed by the Secretary of State, so it seems only fair that at least a cabinet minister should sign the visa.

When are you moving? I'm going to try really, really REALLY hard to visit you before you leave - I'll miss you! (Congratulations on the impending move, though - it sounds like an awesome opportunity.)

Read a bit of your journal yesterday and meant to leave a comment asking if it has an RSS feed so I can plop it into my feedreader.
Today, I downloaded a wonderful XML parser called BeautifulSoup. At the bottom of the page, I noticed that it was written by your husband. Nice coincidence. Had to come back and leave you a comment.
I love England, especially the Lake District with its lovely geology. You've got to get up there if the chance presents itself. Good luck!

And did those feet in near-future times<br/>Walk upon England's mountains green?<br/>And was the awesome Leonard R.<br/>On England's pleasant pastures seen?<br/>And did the Sumana Divine<br/>Shine forth upon their clouded hills?<br/>And was Collabora builded there<br/>Among those dark Satanic mills?
Oh wow, exciting! I hope you enjoy it there.
