Hi, reader. I wrote this in 2002 and it's now more than five years old. So it may be very out of date; the world, and I, have changed a lot since I wrote it! I'm keeping this up for historical archive purposes, but the me of today may 100% disagree with what I said then. I rarely edit posts after publishing them, but if I do, I usually leave a note in italics to mark the edit and the reason. I read in the New York Times this morning that an avalanche in Russia may have killed Sergei Bodrov, star of Prisoner of the Caucasus (the later one) and Brother. Quite sad.

A sample of my many friends (and of Nandini's) met my parents this evening, and my parents seemed to like everybody! Relief! The main point of the get-together was to show my parents that my sister and I have cool friends and support networks, and, in my case, that not all of my friends are white guys. Laura and Leonard made baked goodies that were quite tasty; I really should learn how to bake a cake at some point.
